Box Score 1 WINTER HAVEN, Fla. - St. Norbert College yielded two runs late in the game and that was the difference in a 7-5 loss to Dickinson College at Chain of Lakes Stadium.
The Green Knights and Red Devils were tied 5-5 after five innings before Dickinson scored two runs on three hits in the top of the sixth inning to snap the tie. St. Norbert was trailing 17-5 in the fifth inning of the second game of the doubleheader, but the game was stopped due to a time limit at Chain of Lake Stadium. However, NCAA Rule 5.7.C states all doubleheader game must go at least seven innings and cannot be stopped on a time limit, so the game is ruled a "no contest."
Dickinson took a 1-0 lead with a run in the first inning and jumped ahead 5-0 when it scored four times in the top of the fourth inning. The Green Knights rallied with three runs in the fourth inning on an
Isaac Gerhardt two-run double and a
Trevor Cornell RBI single. St. Norbert tied the game in the fifth inning with two runs scoring thanks to two hits and three Dickinson errors.
After Dickinson took the lead, St. Norbert had a runner on in the sixth inning and two runners on in the seventh inning but did not score.
Gerhardt was 2-for-3 with two runs batted in, while
Adam Cootway was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles.
Grant Maus took the loss, allowing two runs on four hits in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
