DE PERE - St. Norbert College senior defensive back
Joe Jung has been named a first-team All-America selection by D3football.com, announced by the website Dec. 16.
Jung, a Neenah native and a Neenah High School graduate, earned his first All-America honor by leading St. Norbert's defense with a team-high 74 tackles. He had five interceptions, four passes defended, 2 1/2 tackles-for-loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Jung had a season-high 11 tackles in a hard-fought 26-12 win over Benedictine on Oct. 1, and added 10 stops in a 52-14 win over Rockford University on Oct. 29. He also had two interceptions with nine tackles in a 7-0 win over Wisconsin Lutheran College on Oct. 8.
St. Norbert's defense allowed over 14 points just twice this season and pitched two shutouts.
Jung's selection marks the seventh consecutive season a St. Norbert gridder has earned All-America honors. Jung's honor marks just the fourth time a Green Knights has made the first team of the D3football.com All-America squad, joining linebacker Jerimiah Janssen (2000 and 2001) and defensive back Joe Masciopinto (2003).
