DULUTH, Minn. - St. Norbert College pumped in four third-period goals en route to a 6-3 win over College of St. Scholastica in a non-conference game at Mars Lakeview Arena. It was the opener of a two-game series between former Northern Collegiate Hockey Association rivals.
The Green Knights (2-1) held a 2-1 lead heading into the third period. The Saints' Abby Pohlkamp tied things up just 63 seconds into the final stanza to knot the score 2-2.
Josephine Mahlum answered at 2:43 to put the Green Knights back in front.
Kelsey Ross added a marker at 4:35, and
Courtnie Hogan then registered a power-play goal at 7:28 for a 5-2 lead.
St. Scholastica would score again on another Pohlkamp goal, this one at 15:00. St. Norbert pushed its lead back to three when
Lexi Bonfe scored just 25 seconds later.
St. Norbert took a 1-0 lead at 9:49 of the first period when All-American
Ava Jaschke registered a power-play goal. St. Scholastica's Lauryn Hull scored at 18:08 to bring the score at first intermission to 1-1.
Bailey Brunnhoelzl scored the second period's lone goal with a marker at 7:26.
Jaschke and Bonfe each had one goal and two assists for three points, while Ross had one goal and one assist for two points.
St. Norbert outshot St. Scholastica 46-26.
Evi Johnson made 23 saves for the Green Knights, while Ashlea Arvidson made 40 saves for the Saints.
The Green Knights were 2-for-3 on the power play, while St. Scholastica was 0-for-5.
