St. Norbert Runs Past Concordia Chicago

DE PERE - St. Norbert College wrapped up the 2022 season by rushing for over 300 yards in a 54-0 win over Concordia University Chicago in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights rolled up 317 rushing yards on 47 carries, an average of 6.7 yards per rush. Owen Kudick posted 191 yards on 22 carries and three touchdowns, while John Trinh had 139 yards rushing on 20 carries and two touchdowns. St. Norbert rolled up a season-high 503 yards of total offense.

St. Norbert blocked a Concordia Chicago field-goal attempt on the first possession of the game and the Cougards never seriously threatened the rest of the way. The Green Knights led 7-0 after the first quarter following a 29-yard touchdown pass from Richie Gilles to Parker Lawrence with 56 seconds left in the period.

The Green Knights added to their lead when Kudick had an 8-yard touchdown run with 10:26 left in the second quarter. Dan Simon followed with a 33-yard field goal with 3:35 to go for a 17-0 edge. St. Norbert got a defensive stop at its own 29 with 55 seconds left, and on the first play from scrimmage Kudick broke loose for a 68-yard run to the Concordia 3. Kudick carried it over on the next play for a 24-0 lead.

Gilles connected with Lawrence again, this time for a 63-yard touchdown on the third play of the third quarter. St. Norbert got a turnover on downs on the next series and Trinh broke free for a 14-yard touchdown for a 37-0 lead with 10:44 to go. The Green Knights got another quick stop and then scored on five Kudick runs, the last from the 4-yard line at the 7:09 mark. Trinh's 29-yard run with 1:43 left in the third quarter put St. Norbert up 51-0.

Simon's 26-yard field goal with 5:07 remaining was the game's final points.

Kudick's 191 rushing yards is the 19th most in a single-game performance in St. Norbert history. Gilles completed 8 of 14 passes for 186 yards and two touchdowns. Lawrence caught five passes for 145 yards and two touchdowns.

Concordia Chicago, which finished with 145 yards of total offense, was led by Troy Pratley's 82 passing yards on 6 of 17 passing.

Sam Barnett had a team-high nine tackles, while Kyle Santos had seven tackles and 2 1/2 tackles-for-loss. Jax Carroll and Joe Jung each added six tackles.
