Peyton Frantti's goal at 1:50 of the overtime period lifted St. Norbert College to a 4-3 win over Aurora University in a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association game at Cornerstone Community Center.
The Green Knights (12-3, 8-0 NCHA), ranked No. 12 in the USCHO.com Division III Poll, won for the 11th consecutive time by sweeping the No. 11-ranked Spartans (10-5-1, 6-4 NCHA) in a battle of nationally ranked teams.
Frantti poked home a rebound off an
Adam Stacho wraparound attempt in the 3-on-3 overtime period, the Green Knights' first overtime game of the season. It was Frantti's ninth marker of the season.
St. Norbert jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period after
Evan Cholak scored at 5:16 and
Michael McChesney at 16:59. It was Cholak's second goal of the year and McChesney's sixth. Aurora scored the lone goal of the second period when Larry Jungwirth scored a 4-on-4 goal at 9:12.
The Green Knights took a 3-1 lead at 8:01 of the third period when Stacho scored for the sixth time this season. Aurora scored a power-play goal by Derrick Budz just 40 seconds later, and Simon Boyko's goal at 14:36.
Stacho, McChesney and Cholak all finished with two-point games.
St. Norbert outshot Aurora 32-25, including 2-0 in the overtime session.
Colby Entz made 22 saves for St. Norbert, while Josh Boyko made 28 stops for Aurora.
St. Norbert was 0-for-4 on the power play, with Aurora going 1-for-4.
