
KENOSHA - St. Norbert College had several men's swimmers place highly and set school records in the process at the three-day Carthage College Classic Invitational at Koenitzer Aquatic Center.
The Green Knights finished fourth out of 10 teams at the highly competitive meet, scoring 1,439.5 points. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology won with 2,632 points, while Carthage was second with 2,099 points. Lake Forest College nipped St. Norbert for third place with 1,542 points.
The 400-yard medley relay of
Victor Kostov,
Matthew Trotter,
Wayne King and
Finn Heneghan won with a St. Norbert-record time of 3:24.93. The 200-yard medley relay of Heneghan, Trotter,
Killian Riley and King finished in third place with a St. Norbert-record time of 1:34.41.
Kostov finished second in the 200-yard individual medley with a St. Norbert-record mark of 1:55.79 and added another second-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:12.10. Kostov finished third in the 400-yard individual medley with a school-record time of 4:10.28.
Trotter set a Midwest Conference record during the preliminary round of the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 49.69 seconds. He ultimately finished second in the event in 49.94 seconds, while King was tenth in 53.14 seconds.
Heneghan set a new St. Norbert record in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:14.52 and added a third-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke in 1:55.04. Heneghan also won the 100-yard backstroke in 51.31 seconds, while Kostov was second in 51.75 seconds.
King's school-record time of 57.21 seconds was good enough to win the 100-yard breaststroke, while Riley was tenth in 1:01.93. Trotter won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:54.29. King added another school record with a time of 21.20 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing fourth.
Riley was second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:44.40, while
David Turner was ninth in 1:47.13. Heneghan, Trotter and King all made the "A" Final in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing third (46.53 seconds), sixth (47.25 seconds) and tenth (48.53 seconds), respectively.
Turner was seventh in the 500-yard freestyle in 4:54.43.
