St. Norbert Routs Concordia In Series Sweep

MEQUON - St. Norbert College's offense remained red-hot as the Green Knights pasted Concordia University Wisconsin 10-2 in the back end of a Northern Collegiate Hockey Association home-and-home series at Ozaukee Ice Center.

The Green Knights (9-3, 6-0 NCHA) have won eight straight games and have scored 51 goals in those contests, an average of 6.4 goals per game. St. Norbert scored 17 in the two Concordia games, including a 7-1 win Friday in De Pere.

The top line of Peter Bates, Peyton Frantti and Liam Fraser continued to keep the offense humming along, with the trio accounting for five goals. Bates had two goals and two assists for four points, giving him 24 points at the semester break. In his last six games, Bates has nine goals and nine assists. Frantti finished with two goals and one assist for three points, with six goals and 10 assists for 16 points in his last six games. Fraser had one goal and two assists for three points, also posting numbers of 6-10-16 in his last six outings.

St. Norbert blitzed Concordia from the start, getting a quick 2-0 lead on goals by Carter Hottmann at 1:42 and Michael Spethmann at 3:10. Concordia got a power-play goal from Cory Dennis at 3:34, but Frantti followed with a power-play goal at 5:05 and another on a delayed penalty at 7:53 for a 4-1 lead. Bates then found twine at 19:15 for a commanding 5-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Bates scored again, his 11th of the season, at 1:42 of the first period. Michael McChesney added another at 8:37. Salvatore Scalise scored at 15:22 of the second period for Concordia, but St. Norbert scored power-play goals by Fraser at 16:59 and Adam Stacho at 19:07 for a 9-2 lead after two periods.

Mitchell Zambon added a goal at 3:10 of the third period to close out the scoring.

Hottmann and McChesney each had an assists for two-point games, while Jordan Strand, Chase Mickelson and Brendon Gysbers all had two assists apiece.

St. Norbert outshot Concordia 54-25. Colby Entz made 23 saves for the Green Knights, who were 3-for-9 on the power play.
