St. Norbert Dropped by Rockford

DE PERE - St. Norbert College couldn't slow down Rockford University and it led to the Green Knights' first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference loss of the season as the Regents racehorsed to a 91-83 win at Mulva Family Fitness & Sports Center.

The Green Knights (6-2, 3-1 NACC) had their only lead at 2-0 as Rockford then went on a 16-0 run to take control of the game at 16-2 with just 4:26 gone by in the contest. St. Norbert got to within six at 35-29 with 3:28 left in the first half but Rockford scored the next six points and eventually led 47-33 at halftime.

St. Norbert got to within eight points twice in the second half before the final minute of the game, the earliest at 72-64 with 9:49 to go, but again the Regents scored the next seven points to retake control.

The defeat spoiled a breakout performance by freshman guard Parker Lawrence, who pumped in 33 points off the bench for St. Norbert. Lawrence shot 13 of 18 from the floor and canned 7 of 12 three-point field-goal attempts, one short of the school record for made 3s in a game. Lawrence scored 28 of his 33 points in the second half.

St. Norbert shot just 39.5 percent (30-for-76) from the floor and was 11-for-39 (28.2 percent) from beyond the three-point arc, with the 39 three-point field-goal attempts a school record. Michael Payant was the only other Green Knight to reach double figures with 16 points.

Rockford shot 54.5 percent (36-for-66) from the floor and was 15-for-33 (45.5 percent) from beyond the three-point arc. Brandon Emerick led the Regents with 26 points, while Micah Swanson added 16 points and 11 rebounds and Jaden Bell added 13 points and 15 rebounds.
