RIVER FOREST, Ill. - St. Norbert College got a handful of big plays and its defense kept Concordia University Chicago off the scoreboard as the Green Knights claimed a 34-0 win in a Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game at Concordia Stadium.
The Green Knights ran just 40 offensive plays as the Cougars held possession for 42 minutes 19 seconds, but St. Norbert averaged 6.9 yards per play and got a defensive touchdown to key the win. Concordia ran 73 plays, with 50 coming on the ground in a game that lasted just 2 hours 13 minutes. Concordia had just two red zone possessions, with both ending on an interception.
St. Norbert scored on its first two offensive possessions. The Green Knights moved 54 yards on five plays after
Joe Jung intercepted the Cougars' Troy Pratley and scored on
Delton Zuleger's 2-yard run. St. Norbert forced a Concordia punt and needed just one play to score when
Ben Kohl hit
Karter Decker on a 73-yard touchdown pass for a 14-0 lead with 6:18 left in the first quarter.
Concordia opened the second quarter with a 16-play, 72-yard drive that melted 9:35 off the clock, but Pratley was intercepted by
Jaren Yoder, who returned the pick 90 yards for a touchdown and a 20-0 lead with 4:07 left in the half.
St. Norbert scored on its second possession of the third quarter on a six-play, 61-yard drive, with Kohl finding
Parker Lawrence on a 22-yard touchdown pass with 4:38 left in the quarter. The Green Knights closed out the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Kohl to
Dylan Leschewski on the second play from scrimmage in the fourth quarter.
Concordia outgained St. Norbert 291-278 in total offense. Kohl completed 12 of 16 passes for 189 yards and three touchdowns. Zuleger rushed 12 times for 59 yards and one touchdown.
David Lox caught six passes for 67 yards.
DeAndre Daniels led Concordia on the ground with 95 yards on 22 carries. A pair of Cougars quarterbacks completed 13 of 23 passes for 108 yards and three interceptions.
Maccabee Barrett led St. Norbert with 15 tackles and intercepted a pass. Yoder had 12 tackles to go with his interception, while
Jake Berken had 10 stops and a quarterback sack.
